I study how your brain perceives the world, other people and itself.

I am Director of the Uncertainty Lab at Birkbeck, University of London. I have been a Visiting Fellow of the Institute for Advanced Study, Paris and All Souls College, University of Oxford.

I was awarded the EPS Prize from the Experimental Psychology Society, the Janet Taylor Spence Award by the Association for Psychological Science, named a Rising Star by the Cognitive Neuroscience Society, and awarded a Mid-Career Fellowship by the British Academy.

My first popular science book - "A Trick of the Mind: How the Brain Invents Your Reality"- was published by Penguin in 2025.
